The Super Nintendo Entertainment System is was many people feel helped bring upon a new golden age in gaming. With it's noticable upgraded graphics from the original NES, the SNES was an amazing piece of machinery. The sheer magnitude of great games that came out for the SNES was jaw dropping and to this day is the standard for which all games are compared to.
Design - Updating the look from the NES to a sleeker, yet still boxy design. The cartridges were down loaded from the top, with an eject button to easily remove games. This is the first system to integrate Nintendo's non-RF audio/video hookups; although it came boxed with the RF adapter.
Controllers - Controller design is another part of the SNES that makes it almost perfect. The controller had the perfect amount of buttons and the design fit your hand perfectly.
Library Strength - This was another system where I couldn't pinpoint the exact amount of games licensed for it. No matter how many games there are, it doesn't matter as the quality is what I will focus on. One thing that was very noticable about the SNES was that more times then not, a game would be great for it. Graphically the games were great to look at and musically the scores were amazing (sites like OCremix can attest to this). So many game series had an amazing SNES iteration. Even games like Aladdin and Lion King, were decent games back in the day. One thing that stands above all else, and what plagued the next generation of consoles, was the controls. The SNES had spot on controls in almost all of it's games.
Collect-ability - The SNES is another system that is very collectable due to the great games and cartridge design. Some games were either didn't catch on or a large number of cartridges weren't produced leading to some games being pretty rare. Also, there are a couple of SNES emulators floating around that developers used to use to create SNES games.
Overall - The Super Nintendo Entertainment System was and still is a great video game system. From it's upgraded graphics, to it's quality game selection. You can't go wrong owning a SNES.
