Sorry about the delay in more reviews being posted. Examiner.com has been doing a total overhaul to the site, and for a while now I wasn't able to load up my reviews.
Wolfenstein 3D is a video game that is generally regarded as having popularized the first person shooter genre on the PC. It was created by id Software and published by Apogee Software. Released on May 5, 1992 for MS-DOS, the game was inspired by the 1980s Muse Software computer games Castle Wolfenstein and Beyond Castle Wolfenstein. It was also released on Xbox Live Arcade and PSN on June 3, 2009 for 400 MS points ($5). Because I don't have a copy of Wolfenstein on my PC, we're using the port of the game on the Xbox 360, and we're looking at the first episode for a general review of the game.
Super Mario Bros X is a free fan made game for the PC. Not only does it feature 3 full games in it, but it also has a 2 player Co-op mode. So Nintendo is really copying off of these guys with New Super Mario Bros Wii.
Doom 2 for PC enhances on the original by creating a tougher, more difficult experience. After clearing out the seemingly endless hordes of Hell on Mars' moons Phobos and Deimos in Doom, our hero returns to Earth only to find it in ruins. While the original Doom was taking place, Hell had already begun it's conquest of Earth and surely other locations in the universe.
Doom on the PC is without a doubt the best release of the game in existence. I would even go so far as to call the versions on the SNES and 32X a disgrace. The Playstation version of Doom comes the closest to replicating the gameplay of the original but it still misses by miles.
